At the GalerieETAGE in the Museum Reinickendorf, the new exhibition “Tales of the Dark Days” will open on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. Following a brief welcome by District Councilor Harald Muschner, Cornelia Renz (curator) and Dr. Sabine Ziegenrücker (Head of the Department of Art and History) will introduce the works of six artists: Merav Kamel and Halil Balabin (Israel), Julia Kissina (Germany), Shira Orion (Germany), Cornelia Renz (Germany), Zvi Tolkovsky (Israel).
Told Memories in Images: Dreamworlds in which Nightmares Reign.
The exhibition brings together six artists who, in their work, engage with the traumas of German, Israeli, and Jewish-German history. Their works reveal, in complex and often humorous ways, how these dark days continue to shape our identities and societies today. Suppressed suffering and shameful guilt surface in the images, reflect into the present, and confront us with stories that are more relevant than ever.
Accompanying Program:
Thursday, September 25, 2025, 6 p.m. – Artist Talk with Merav Kamel and Halil Balabin
